i wrote about how social media can impact mental health
social media can have many different types of impacts, good, bad, weird, or funny. Lots of people use social media in their day-to-day lives, whether they're content creators or they're just scrolling the internet. people today are ‘addicted’ to the internet; they spend hours and hours just scrolling TikTok, reels, or stories; some people scroll to get away from reality. social media can have a good impact. Social media can bring awareness to lots of things, for a few examples, mental health, missing people, missing pets, deaths, etc. A lot of people today are still alive because of social media, and some, on the other hand, are not, but we will get to that later. Social media can be kind and supportive to people going through things; it's not just about social media itself; it's the people that make up social media; it's the people that help and that bring light to the darkness. People on the internet can meet new people and meet new friends and give them a feeling of connection, and people who have gone through similar things or situations can comment or message with that person and encourage them and tell them about that situation and about how much better they're doing. onto how bad social media can be, because there are two sides to the internet and social media, good and bad. Social media can impact many people's minds in bad ways. People might compare themselves or tell themselves bad things about themselves because maybe someone has something they can't have or can't get, so they might feel jealous but bad about themselves at the same time. Girls might compare themselves to another girl and say, “I'll never be that pretty," “Why can't I look like her?” etc. Boys might compare themselves to someone else because someone might have a body type that they want, or how many friends they have, or a lifestyle someone has. Comparing yourself can lead to lower self-esteem, anxiety and stress, imposter syndrome, and many more things, but it is important to remind yourself that you can't have what someone else might have at 40 or 20. One day you'll be able to have what you truly want and need, but you can't try to have what someone else might have, and y'all are different people with different lives, so not everything is going to be the same.
