Soothing the edges

That void,
that immense space for words
when there truly aren't any
to convey the shared loss,
the emptiness
of no longer there--
can be filled to overflowing
with a hug.

At least for a moment
until tears wash back in,
the tide unstoppable.
Until another hug blocks
the inarguable
even if just for a mere moment.
Eventually, the sands castle
and the hurt becomes a heart full of pearls.
