First Bloom

In the Kingdom of Elantris, everyone was filled with magic. It was a world where instead of aeroplanes, there were dragons. Instead of football stadiums, people used flying elephants to create a sport. Everyone had a particular magic ability. Explosions, the elements, telepathy, invisibility- you name it! But social rankings also took control of people. Those who are average in magic are commoners, those who are exceptionally strong are knights, those who are very strong are nobles and those who are incredibly strong are in the rankings of royalty.

Kings and Queens are so strong that one could defeat 10 dragons with so little injuries.And those born in the noble family share that same power- Except... Laura . Laura Whitlock was the daughter of King Eldron. He was married to 3 different wives and had 14 children. Now he has not even one wife and 4 children left behind. Laura is the 3rd child in the Whitlock family and had 2 brothers and 1 sister.

She had no magic and was treated like an outcast but they could not just throw her away because it would bring a bad name to the family so they turned her to a maid servant. She was bullied by everyone, including her siblings and even her younger sister but her father didn't even bat an eye. She was flogged intentionally for something she did right and the rest of the maids blamed her for anything that went missing which put her in very big trouble. She was bullied to the point she wasn't even given food. She didn't live a nice life- AT ALL.



Even though Laura was bullied, she was strong. She stood for herself even if they didn't believe her. She would work hard even if they didn't acknowledge it. She never gave up and kept on trying. She had a habit of sneaking out while wearing a hood and would be kind to the commoners whenever they had a hard time, especially if it was trouble with nobles. She very kind and helpful in the town and people loved her. They didn't know her true identity though, so they thought she was just a nice girl. One day a noble was walking in the town with his guards following him. A little boy who was playing bumped into him and mud splashed all over his body.

He paused for a moment and just when he was about to speak Laura ran over to the scene and stopped him. " Sorry for his behaviour but don't do anything to him" she said blocking the boy from the noble's sight. The little boy ran away thanking her and she stood firm in front of the noble. He smiled and then spoke " Are you Miss Laura, the one with no magic? "he asked. " Yes What do you want? "she answered while suspiciously looking at him. He looked strong indeed and was VERY handsome but she didn't care. He simply chuckled, went down on one knee and kissed the back of her rough hands like a gentleman." I have been looking for you. You are to be my future wife as decided by our fathers so I am taking you to my palace" he said as he got up. "Huh?" she said confused " HUH?!!!!" she screamed as she finally grasped the state she was in, in that situation. But it was too late. She was already in the carriage heading for the noble's mansion. She was tired and confused and couldn't believe it. [() means POV] ( Ugh..) Laura thought. (That miscreant of a father. He didn't even tell me anything !) Laura thought as she sighed.
