“Hey, I told you, no peaking! Alright?”

“Woah, Alex! I nearly tripped down that step, Be careful.”

“I’m always careful, Lucy, that’s why you fell in love with me.”

“No I fell in love with you because of that crazy head on those scrawny shoulders.”

“Easy on the insults, right Lucy, you’re now in position. Three, two, one, blindfold off!”

Opening her eyes, Lucy found herself standing at the centre of a makeshift laboratory, setup in their basement. Alex stood before her, wearing a metallic glove with a screen interface sticking from his left forearm.

“So this is what you’ve been working on for six months? You ruined this space and made me a toy.”

“Oh this glove? Lucy, I don’t have a death wish. As promised I’ve invented a device, just for you.”

“So, what does it do?”

“I was hoping you’d ask, now watch this!”

After configuring the device, he made a large circle motion using the glove to unveil an opening. Lucy approached cautiously, to discover her mother’s garden on the other side.

“Go on, you can grab one of those roses.”

Reaching slowly, Lucy placed her hand through the portal, picked a rose and retrieved it back into their home.

“How in the...this can’t be...”

“I can programme this handy little tool, pardon the pun, to take you anywhere. I mean anywhere!”

“This is amazing, we’ve got to show people!”

“Lucy, no. I’ve built this for you, and for you only.”

“You can’t keep something like this a secret.”

“I’m serious, you can’t speak of this to anyone.”

“You said this was mine right?”

“Yes….”

“Then I want to show the World!”

“No!”

Alex smashed the glove over Lucy’s head, striking her dead before she hit the ground.

“You just wouldn’t listen….Why wouldn’t you listen, Lucy?!”
