Short story about a vampire bat.
There lived a solitary vampire bat named Nocturna unlike the other of her kind she liked going on journeys by herself. Sneaking out in the day Whilst everyone hung on the family ranch in our forest. She would glide silently through the dense forest, her senses alert for the warm pulse of blood. She always fed delicately, ensuring her prey felt only a slight tickle.

After one long day of blood-sucking, on her way back flying through the trees, she saw a young cub bleeding out on the riverbank. She hovered above the cub, watching its labored breathing and sensing its need for help. Determined to assist, Nocturna flew back to her roost and gathered healing leaves and herbs. With care, Nocturna returned and tended to the cub's wounds. She stayed by its side, protecting it from other predators and feeding on small animals to sustain herself. Doing this she also gave blood back to the cub the same way she get blood from prey. As the nights passed, the cub began to regain its strength, its wounds healing under Nocturna's attentive care.

After a week of giving her blood and cleaning and healing the cub's wounds, she stood up one morning after waking up after a long solid sleep for the first time. Nocturna watched the mixture of pride and relief as the cub stretched its muscles and tested its new strength. The cub looked down to the ground where Nocturna stood, very tiny compared to her, and in her own way said "My name is 'Orli' and thank you." Nocturna flew and sat on top of Orli's back and together they walked down the stream they had been sitting at for days. A new odd friendship in the dense forest again once created.
