When a poem allows me to keep my mouth shut - yet still write it out of my system |
Brilliant one who picked the most unfortunate of times to decide to exist, no matter if the world or I was ready for you-- you came, saw, conquered, and took no prisoners--but what if you had never been born? Star-child who dances to the music of the cosmos, whose light emblazons constellations, whose songs will reverberate throughout the millennia to come--but what if you had never been born? ~*~ You call him a hero; looking up to him and the who and what he is. Unknown source of strengthening steel nurtured by parents of the heart. Makes us all so happy--but what if he had never been born? A man who loves you as his own--no distinction, set three generations into motion, has hands that dance to the rhythms of the ages and a heart bigger than most we have ever known--but what if he had never been born? ~*~ An unknown woman from a different, difficult time gave the world a gift of her body and heart. I so wish she could have known the man her child became, the generations since. Sixteen souls and more: many more-- rejoice that he, was, indeed, born. |
