With Storms in Mind In my heart there is a rainbow, when the rain reclines, relents A place where all this time slows, where my soul resides, repents Overthinking of the downpour, the winds that ripped it through Over analysing rainfall, the measures that we knew The guages we acknowledged, the limits that we strain The boundaries we forfeit, time and time again The ghosts that haunt our heartbeats, the vessels they speak through Something in the water, ... it must be something true Phantoms from the old days, spirits from the past Through blizzards cold, such thoughts play, with die we never cast Channeling known waters, 'neath bridges old and new Canal paths, narrow quarters, muddy ridges, rain soaked through A flood, fresh, spreading faster, in ignorance we're caught A fever, can't think past her, thoughts foaming, rapid, wrought A river wild sought her, where floodplains weigh down sins Beneath the weight of water, the healing begins With storms in mind, I venture, I try to start again To make way for a brighter day, this wintery refrain Between the rapture and the torture, summer's heat and winter's cold Through valleys without borders, their creases and their folds Where traces of a cold wind blow, through spaces where you dwell Places where my heart beats... bows, ... with faces that have fell |
