13 year old James knows dragons don't exist- but a crazy experience changes his mind. |
Today was just a normal thursday afternoon. Get home from school, throw my back in my closet, take my shoes off, and watch T.V. until mom get's home. I pointed the remote at the television and the screen turned white. Suddenly, it started sparking and popping. I hopped ove the couch for cover and saw the bright light splatter on the wall. "What the heck?" My younger brother, Jacob exclaimed. "I don't know. Let's get outside. You never know what fumes might be coming from that thing," I said. We walked out of the backdoor and sat at the picnic table. Sitting in boredom, my eyes walked to the floor of the porch. Living in Flordia, you see geckos a lot. I loved seeing them, but something was different about this one. It's skin was bright red and it had little nubs sticking out of it's shoulders. "Jacob," I said, tapping his shoulder. "Look at that lizard." "Why? It's the same as all of the other one's," he said. I grabbed his chin and pointed it at the reptile. "Woah." I'm pretty much a proffesional gecko catcher, as I have been catching them for my hole life. When I was two, I tried to eat one. I hopped down from my chair and jumped at the lizard. Right before I caught it, it turned around and shot sparks from it's puny nostrils. I grabbed it and held in the air triumphantly. "That was weird. Did you see that?" I asked Jacob. "Um... yeah! Okay, I may be crazy, but that could be a baby dragon." "Yeah, you are pretty crazy, but you just might be right," I said. "Hey, dude. Are you a dragon?" The lizard made a strange squeaking sound and nodded it's tiny head. I set it down on the table and it froze. That's when my whole backyard was smothered in darkness. I looked up to see an enourmous dragon beating it's wings. It was majestic and glorious, red with golden accents. It's clawed feet planted on the grass. "I see you have captured my baby," The dragon said in a feminine voice. "I shall punish you for your actions," And with that, it blasted fire at Jacob. All that was left of him was blackened bones and ash. "Jacob!" I cried. Turning around, I saw red and orange swallow me up, and then everything went black. |
