A summer day
One basset hound
She snores her dreams
in sunlight found
Lounging outdoors
the live-long day
no cares, nor worries
take her away
She smells some smells
some neighbor's cat
ignores the presence
chooses to nap
She lays back down
returns to rest
while high above
birds make their nest
Her nose knows much
about the world
secrets abound
mysteries unfurled
You'll find her there
in deep respose
she's got two servants
Humans she chose
As seasons go,
she's quite on point
sunbathing maven
Queen of the joint!

Boo didn't make it to the summer of 2021, but she always brought us sunshine and joy, even on the darkest days. She passed away 18 December of 2020 at the age of about 14 1/2 years.
On the saddest, cloudiest day I could ever possibly have imagined.
