Sometimes we need to stop the bleeding, regroup and move on. Life really is short.
It is still raining softly here in Maryland. My home is quiet. Everybody is asleep, and my thoughts and prayers are with those who have recently lost loved ones. My heart and mind are grieving with those who are suffering from cancer, cancer treatments, and other unthinkable illnesses.

My youngest daughter said yesterday that I needed to grieve and get myself back together before visiting or talking with some of my friends who are going through. I think she is right, but, I know that time does not wait for me.

While I am getting me together, time is moving on, and destiny is taking its toll. We must all work while it is day for when night comes no man can work. Life is short -- that is the saying that you hear often these days on the internet and in many other places.

It is NOT just a saying it is a reality for many of us who have lived a few decades, and even for many of those who have not. The question is whether or not we are preparing daily to meet our maker. Another way of saying it is "Are we ready to die on any given day?

From my vantage point,I always want just one more day. One more day to hug my children, keep my sight, drive my car, to tour the world, to reminisce about the good old days, to bemoan my fate or even to find my soul mate. None of us want one more day to be miserable and hate our lives -- at least not from my vantage point.

So then, the question becomes, what are you going to do with the time that you are given? Chase your next big score(job)? Cheat someone out of something that you really did not need? Waste some God given talent that you have but refuse to use? Just what are you going to do with your time?

I suggest that you get out of your comfort zone. Cry over your sick loved one; pitch a tantrum about the death of a friend. Scream and holler for time already lost, BUTWHEN you are finished, dust yourself off and get busy! Life is SHORT, and you have no time to waste!

John Donne wrote (not truly an original, but John Donne
Meditation 17, Devotions upon Emergent Occasions)

No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.

Peace and blessings always.
