The problem of more.
Overindulgence is not Heaven sent;
easy as pie to indulge in the more.
That’s why he is giving it up for Lent.

Appetite often is unwelcome bent;
thus it intrudes like a hunched-over bore.
Overindulgence is not Heaven sent.

Greed worries not where the last cookie went;
nor does it worry about the last Smore.*
That’s why he is giving it up for Lent.

Profligate take in today makes a dent;
if he has three then he surely wants four.
Overindulgence is not Heaven sent.

Extravagance is a big circus tent;
pitch a lean-to at the side of the shore.
That’s why he is giving it up for Lent.

Immoderation took time to repent;
going without warms him right to the core.
Overindulgence is not Heaven sent;
that’s why he is giving it up for Lent.

There are two refrains and two repeating rhymes, with the first and third line of the first tercet
  repeated alternately until the last stanza, which includes both repeated lines.)
