how global language would be beneficial to the Earth |
When people talk, they communicate with the means to convey their thoughts, but if a person doesn’t speak the same language, people won't be able to speak to them or understand them. With a global language, people will not have the problem of dealing with different ways of speaking, which will prove helpful in the future. A global language would help solve communication problems, war, the economy, and the overall equality of the World. As an observer of how languages are used, I believe that English would be the most logically used for a universal language of the World. Communication, war, economy issues, and equality are tied together with how a global language would offer people. Having the understanding of everyone in the World would help people for the better by creating new kinsmanship and alliances, which would go on to help misunderstandings and war, so that fighting would cease. Communication would help make more allies for trade, which would boost the economy, helping to pay off debt. Equality is a big win with a global language because people will get along with one another. The world has been through many battles just because of miscommunication, and offensiveness. One example of miscommunication is the atomic bombs “little boy” and “fat man,” if the translator in Washington had translated Japan's answer, the two bombs might not have been dropped. Another example was when Jimmy Carter went to Poland to make a speech. There, he made comments and tried to be as humble as possible, but his translator said it wrong (several times) embarrassing the president and enraging the Poland people attending. A global language should be brought into existence because people should be able to understand one another, and live peaceful lives. There are about 6,500 languages currently used today. So many people speak many languages that the dream of a global language seems chimerical, but time is what counts with changing things because everything takes time and effort to accomplish. A global language might be just a foolish delusion to some, but people have already changed so much, that one more evolution could be possible. There are opposing people who have all come to agree that having only one language would force them to lose their culture, or they won't know where they came from, but thats not true. Having one language doesn’t make people lose anything, if they were to lose their culture, it would be because they forgot it themselves. Learning one language would benefit the World, but it won't change who each individual person is. Culture will stay the same, religion will be as it has been, and people can live like normal, but as a place where everyone can communicate. When a one language World should appear, it is not as though people will forget other languages. The internet contains so many things already, and I’m sure that with how people are, they want to keep what they have and hold onto what their heritage has handed them, so languages will be protected by the people it is passed onto. People can have their homelands language and learn a universal language as well, people have sort of been doing it for a while. People have asked what language would take over as the universal language, well the English language is the most used among the World. Japan learns English; and the same goes for other countries. As having been the most used, some people have decided or thought that the best universal language would be the English language because almost half of the World already speaks it. If the universal language is Japanese, then over seventy percent of the World would have to break away from their language and learn it; if English is used, just over half of the World would have to re-adjust. Some people have said that English is the hardest language to learn, but that's not completely true. Every language has its’ difficulties, and it is mainly only difficult because a person wasn’t brought up with that particular language. Having learned a language already makes things more difficult for a person to adapt to another one. So it just depends on where a person is from, and how well they can adjust to a different language. Another argument that might be made is, that because of me speaking English, I am selfish. I had mentioned earlier that the English language is used most often in the World, and that it is the most logical universal language that should be used. Reading a book would be a problem if the language isn’t the one a person uses, so if people want to read a certain book, they would have to get a translated version, or just read a different book. Why should anyone be limited to certain books? Every language writes differently, so it would be almost impossible to read things from different places. Having a universal language would help rectify this problem, and help more people learn different things about countries. Inviting more people to learn about countries will provides understanding and hopefully more equality among people. The power of people have been dominating the spotlight of battle since as long as anyone can remember; they have brought pain on each other because of their desires and misgivings. Living among people who speak different languages can become increasingly difficult, so for the Wounded Knee Massacre, people could imagine what went wrong. Indian tribes had many ways to their culture, and dancing was one of them; when these Indians danced, they were doing the “Ghost Dance.” This dance was performed to ward off evil spirits from the land, which would allow the dead to come back to the living. Eventually as all rumors spread, they get jumbled up and change meaning. The meaning of the dance changed to get rid of white men, and when it reached them, the soldiers were not very happy. The men took ridiculous steps to stop the dance because they misread the meaning behind it. The conflict contorted into the massacre of around 150 Natives. A global language is needed to stop acts like this from happening; there are people who think too far into things, that fact intertwines into fiction. People have thought of many ways to help those around them; people have been ignorant in the past concerning many things that could have been avoided, but humans have the power to change the World. So far math and music has been the universal language in the World because everyone can understand it the same way, but if a global language is brought out, then everyone can understand one another more than they have ever done so before. As people of this World we have been driven to advance our ways of life, to evolve and make a better World, so when someone is trying to think of a good way to help the World, think of a global language because with it, people to advance into the next stage of life. History is bound repeat itself, but with a universal language, there is something great lurking around the corner. Works Cited "Top 10 Times Miscommunication Had Awful Consequences - Toptenz.net."
