Falling in love unexpectedly
You were just someone I passed in the hall.
A friend of a friend,
Basically non-existent in my mind.
Just some guy with a goofy smile;
I was never really bothered about you.

That all changed when we became friends.
I got to know the guy across the hall,
The one my friends were crazy for,
The soul behind the smile.

Then you did the impossible and broke through my walls.
You made me care, made me trust, made me love.
Slowly, every day, you tore it down
With your laugh, you’re your smile, your touch,
With those chocolate brown eyes that can melt even the coldest hearts.

The walls finally came crashing down
Leaving me naked, bare and exposed.
My armor was put down and I was left unguarded,
Vulnerable to any touch, shot, insult, or weapon.

You promised to be my shield and protector.
No one was ever going to hurt me.
Why didn’t you realise
That even you weren’t supposed to hurt me?
You broke my heart, shattering it into a million pieces.

Why did you wait until I fell so hard
To tell me you didn’t care?
Why did you wait until I was so hooked on you,
That the thought of you not there with me,
Was like a thousand knives searing through my heart?

Sadly, even with all you’ve put me through,
All the heartbreaks, sleepless nights, and hours spent crying.
If you call, even whisper that you need me,
I’ll come running to you,
Desperate for any second with you,

Our paths have intertwined
And I can’t let you go.
I long for any time by your side,
All because you became more than just
The boy across the hall.
