A sad reality that I won't go if I'm awake.
She brings her hand to close her agape mouth. Her eyes bulge out. She read the line a few times, hoping she is imagining the words. She closes her eyes and opens them again, reading the neat handwriting. Still, the page shows the same words. How could they lie to her? She's not the one who chooses to be their daughter.

Tears fill her eyes as the writing blurs. She hung her head and her sobs echo in the room. Small rivers flow on her face, creating some spots on the page as her shoulder shakes. She puts her hand on her left chest, where her heart is breaking into pieces.

She blames herself for entering the room. She should have listened to her father, no, foster father.

'Don't go into that room,' Mr. Fay pointed the wooden door next to his daughter's room. 'It's dangerous.'

'Why? Is there a monster in there?' Aileen, who was seven years old asked, as she gazed at her father with innocent eyes.

Mr. Fay chuckled while nodding his head, and patted the girl head.

He said the truth. There is monster in that room. A monster called diary, belonging to her foster mother. A diary that changes her perspective toward her fake parents.

More patches form on the page, replacing the dried stain. That's why Mrs. Fay always glares at her with hatred in her eyes. She's not her biological mother. She calls her a burden because she hates her. She should have assume it earlier.

She hurls the diary and it lands in front of the door. Her hand wipes the tears form her wet face. She climbs on her queen size bed, resting her tired body on the soft mattress.

She shut her eyes, hoping she would wake up in a world with her biological parents and live happily ever after. Live happily ever after? Does that exist in this sad reality?
