a short story of a day in a cat's life |
The day was greeted with Grey’s big yawn. He stretched his four sleaky legs, and stretched his body into the ground. He’s an early riser. He wakes up before everyone, before the sky turns all bright, before the door all open, and the light all turned on. He mused for a while, not long after, everyone follows – the mother, the two kids, and the father. They all started getting ready for the day, getting things ready and eating their breakfast. Not very long, the room will be empty, the kids gone to the school, and the parents gone to work. He will be left alone in this living room, with his lone companion, the two goldfishes over the table. At least, he’s not alone. If he’s left with nothing to do, tired of sleeping, strolling around, playing with his ball, he can get through the time watching the fishes swimming around the bowl. He feels like a guard though, guarding two stars - at least for the kids they are, but no bigger than him. He slightly lift his chest, feeling proud over his thoughts. The family had gone, and his day rolled hour by hour. The sun had gone down and started getting dark, his masters not yet around, a bit late than usual. He could feel the scrambling on his stomach, his masters still out of sight. His head turned to the fishes, and he started seeing vivid images, the fishes inside his stomach, swimming together around and around, not in the bowl but in his stomach. He slightly shook his head, and before he could think more, the door blasted open, the kids with their parents entered the room. His stomach saved in time. He heaved a big sigh, and then run straight to his masters. Word Count - 300 |
