What if all things were possible?
Jick was in his early teens when he learned that he could manifest anything that he could imagine. He was of average size and proportion for his age with blonde hair and the brightest blue eyes that could pierce a person’s soul. He first noticed his ability upon waking from a dream and watching it unfold before his eyes in the waking world. At first he thought it was visions he had while asleep and he had become a prophet. Within a couple of days he would think of something, desire it, and it would become real at that very moment. This was very different from visions and prophecy. This was manifesting, creating, miraculous actions, or something yet to be termed. What he did know was that it was new, unusual and could be useful for doing good and great things to the benefit of others.
Jick proceeded to provide for others starting with those with the greatest need. He would manifest anything that he could imagine for anyone in need. When he couldn't see it, those in need would go to extremes explaining every detail to their need sufficient for Jick to imagine it, and it was.
And so it went. People hurting and needing, Jick seeing it and providing, trusting them with his gift. Then came one who would change it all. His name was Arky and when he heard of Jick’s gift he saw the most exquisite opportunity for the rest of his life to be lived with the luxury of royalty. He went to Jick and told him that a vast amount of gold was needed for his country to survive. Jick said “nonsense, tell me in vivid detail of even the minutest need and if I can see it, I can make it so,” Arky said “that is my need. I need to have the gold so we can obtain the things to provide for ourselves. I know that it is you who would be saving us. If we had a hand in helping ourselves it would go a long way in healing our nation and we would grateful to you, more so than if you miraculously healed us.” Jick considered and agreed to this particular solution. He sent Arky back to his country with twenty tons of gold.
Six months later, Arky came back requesting more gold, so Jick told him to wait until the next morning for his decision. That night Jick went to visit Arky’s country. He couldn't find it so he envisioned himself going back in time to follow Arky as he left with the gold the first time and see where he went. Jick dreamed of Arky going to a place and build an elaborate and beautiful massive building. He purchased people and forced them to do things and treated them like beasts of burden. He saw men hired to watch over the purchased ones and protect his building from others harming it. When the gold was almost gone the hired men threatened Arky with mutiny if he didn't get more. Jick awoke the next morning feeling greatly disturbed.
Jick waited for Arky and when he appeared he said “Arky you have not been truthful to me. I went in search of your country of sore need and couldn't find it. I envisioned myself following you when you left with the gold and have discovered what you did with it. I will not grant your request and will reclaim that in which I have already given. I will free those you have put into bondage and leave you to those who have threatened you.” Jick was so upset his ire was palpable. He instantly vanished from his home and appeared at Arky’s home. He manifested molten fire shooting from his hands and melted the walls surrounding the fortress that Arky built and said “I am mad.” He freed the purchased ones held in bondage and sent them back to their homes. He appeared to the person that sold the ones into bondage and envisioned him as a beast saying “I am mad” and it was so. He envisioned Arky’s ill-gotten building as dust with Arky surrounded by his hirelings saying “I am mad” and it was so. Then Jick simply vanished never to be heard of again.
Once in a while someone will be said to have an ability to do amazing things like moving an object or making someone disappear. These are merely illusions but the performer claims that it was magic. What an interesting term. I wonder if the person using it knows where it came from. You see Jick was very mad when he disposed of Arky publicly and in such a spectacular way. He told everyone near that he was mad. And there you have it “Mad Jick” or as they say today magic.
