Have you ever chosen to make someone else happy at your own expense?
“Paradise Lost”

He has eyes like open skies
and a heart like broken glass
I want to complete him
but that’s too great a task
All those tiny pieces
I want to be the glue
But after all I’m empty
A broken, useless tube

A broken, useless tube, I say
I’m just an empty shell
You may have fallen from heaven
but you met me here in hell

You met me here in hell
and that’s just where I’ll stay
But I can take you back to heaven
just name the time and day

I’ll be sad to see you go
and I’ll get lost in your eyes
They’re my own version of heaven
those hazy, sunset skies
No clouds marr the horizon
but storms still come this way
Because after all I’m empty
and just short of decay

Yes, soon I will decay, I know
I’m just an empty shell
And you are meant for heaven
while I write my own hell.
