I was looking for some inspiration,so I decided to write about inspiration. |
Go on son, inspire me Tell me something I've not heard. For I am of the worldly mind, And if you'd be so very kind. Let us not waste eachothers time, On a novel or a nursery rhyme Or page of fancy words. Indeed I am sorry to disappoint, I just thought you ought to know. I have studied all the verses, rehearsed every speech, read every chart to the point,my dear, that I know it off by heart So i know it ALL,my love, the whole piece, the entire thing So surrounded by ghastly knowledge, that there's nothing left to sing Afterall are we not humans? Of greed and bones and skin So how can I be content within This racket,oh this noisy din Of the voices of my friends and kin From places that I've never been. I need something new my love,I've seen the rest before,im bored of it,can't you tell? So of this I do implore... Pick up your pen, count to ten,be poised and ready then begin. Tell me what's in your mind my sweet, thats what I want to know. Where to start? From the heart, thats where passion sleeps. Pour onto the paper, nice and clear, every dream and hope, care and fear. Beautiful things that you have seen, shiny sparkling things that gleam, That you found shopping or buried in the ground, a thousand memories linked to a sound...don't hesitate. Just write it down. Oh yes, spare me no detail son,I want the lot. All of it,the unfinished book, would you mind if i have a little look? What...So this is it? Maybe there's something i don't quite 'get'. I was expecting something rather grand, from that pen within your tiny hand. But instead my eyes are met, with nothing more than a speck,of a few words, Hardly that,it isn't grand, what did you not quite understand? I wanted your story, but you wrote instead 'inspiration is in your head' |
