Lyric poem about the true nature of emotion. |
Forest's Fountain A forest, splendid in your sight now rises below. Lushly emerald, lavish pine, no blemish or blight seen anywhere, all bright and gild. Now centered in a heart-shaped clear lies a lone fountain, all alone amongst the greenery. With cheer you approach, hoping to be shown. The fountain shining and sublime, and radiant water cascades down angel's wings in pace with time, and pooling amongst tender maids. Love! It seems to shout out to you, come partake of my crisp water, your heart, your mind, your soul I soothe, I, guiding light, never falter. So you invite inside yourself, now flushing is your soul and swells among, then begins to melt, emotions stampede heart and hills So lovely! You exclaim with glee, never before, oh so alive! Your vision sharpens and you see such wondrous things you'd ne'er believe Alas! The water tis true an evil blight, infects the very soul of man quick like a tramping parasite, nothing but good joy it demands. Run rampant through your bones and veins, the shadow of emotion quick to undercut the love you've shown, Anger, hate, jealousy remain. The tender forest holds her tongue, tells nothing of the opposite of joy, of love, of bright, of young, the soul to bitterness commits. Mankind champions emotion, Young love, passionate on display, but at the core just darkened rage, that always drives your love away. |
