The Monster in Jimmy's Bedroom. |
As I wait in this closet intending to scare, with my frightening fangs and my prey who knows where, and my ghoul friends attending the graves of the dead, do I stay here or do I go under the bed? For I’m Eyskare Thapansoff, the monster in wait; every night in his room you will find me up late. Little Jimmy will so get a hint of my growl as he hides undercover when I start to prowl. Now I hear the commotion far down in the hall, and I gear up my scare for the howl of it all. Here they come as they have done so often before; Jimmy’s mom leads the way as she opens the door. For I’m Eyskare Thapansoff, the monster who knows; every night it is my job to hinder repose. I can cause a great shadow to add to the fright as I stalk through the room in the dead of the night. Here I am underneath as she tucks in her lad; (it’s a Spiderman bed and the cover’s not bad.) So I’ll hide here a little until she’s away, then I’ll ease my way out and go after my prey. I am Eyskare Thapansoff and I monster mash; if he turns on the light, I am gone in a flash. I am here to send shivers down shoulder and spine; every night I begin at a quarter to nine. Now I hear Jimmy breathing--I know he’s awake, and it’s time to spread fear for it’s fear that I make. So as I once again start to turn up the dread, Jimmy pulls up the covers right over his head. For I’m Eyskare Thapansoff and I’ll wait for you; while he’s deep below cover, I’ve little to do. But I know soon enough he will come up to breathe-- I will be here in wait, you can surely believe! 32 Lines |
