I am still working out kinks questioning the repetition... criticism appreciated.
There you sit, my poor baby boy
Huddled in the corner of your tiny world
Crumpled and trembling, afraid of nothing.
We cannot find a reason for your obvious pain,
Still we try everything we know to help you.
I love you so much my perfect puppy, the whole family does.
Your whole family does.
You hide and quiver, your whole body shakes.
Please don't leave me.

We want to help you my love,
But you will not come in from the rain.
You will not enter this forsaken home.
Why wont you come inside?
Your life took a turn for the better here,
You have food, a family, a steady life.
Someone who does everything to make you happy.
Please don’t leave me.

Your small cage is your solitude, your resting place.
You seem to want to live your life in that little corner
That place of solace has become a home to you.
We want to take you out, want you to see the world again.
We want you to know that you are loved
Each of us has yanked you out of your desolate hiding place
Back in to the family with the rest of us
We lay you on your favorite blanket.
Please don’t leave me.

You run back to your isolation.
We want you back. The laughing, slobbering
Licking, loving, hopeful baby you were before.
We treated you right, we loved you so hard.
Where has my best friend gone?
Please don’t leave me.

I have cried into your wiry fur more than once,
Too many times to count.
When you hurt your hip, when you fell
To your tiny feet, when you had that
Strange bump on your side.
You fought through it all.
Please don’t leave me.

We are terrified you are near the end.
But the thought of your pain
Brings us back to the pure truth,
We cannot see you suffer.
Please don’t leave me.

But you've been so close to me.
You've been loyal; you've been my hope.
You've been the only one to welcome me
When my house became no longer a home.
You were the only one to whine in happiness
When I re entered the door, after so many months
Away from you, you loved me even when I forgot
How to be loved. Even when I left you behind.

Please don’t leave me.
