Old Indian Prayer

O’ Great Spirit of the living waters…
Of the wind we cannot see…
Of the plants that cover the land
And of all the creatures in the Earth:
Give us knowledge and the wisdom to use it.
Temper our greed and enmity
Toward others of our kind.
Help us understand that life
Does not begin nor end with us.
Inspire us to treat Your gift
With wisdom and restraint,
That our children’s children,
And theirs, and theirs
May prosper and grow closer to Thee
In this garden You have prepared for us
And for all of life.
