I am all poised
my nightly friends,
to learn from you
the way to time-tested
patience, to perseverance.
Every night you come
to illumine my vast skies
of darkness, of bewildering
odds, fear, doubt and
depressing thoughts.
Teach me to glow like you
my starry constellations,
giving out twinkling rays
of joy and light feasting the eyes
rheumy with worry and weakness.
Let me learn from you
sublime stars of heavenly radiance,
the art of living each day with fresh
hope, beauty, novelty and humility,
your steadfastness, your song of love.
I bow in gratitude to you
immortal beauties, for bringing solace
to the soldier lost in the desert,
to the citizens buried under layers
of mind-blowing monotony.
Let your light, a source of delight
inspire us to see beyond the dim horizon.
