Something about him put her at ease like never before. He looked into her eyes and instantly broke down the shield she put up to keep intruders out. He saw her. The real her. And for once in her life she felt connected. She felt his insecurities and hesitations and still wanted to be with him. Because he was so much more. He was kind and warm hearted. Funny. Smart. Extremely talented without believing it. But best of all was the way he made her feel. Like she was something of value. Like she was finally enough. And although there was an obstacle between them, she was more than willing to wait. Because this time, without a doubt, she knew that he was worth it. When he caught her glance, her heart beat faster and warmth spread throughout her body. She tried to play hard to get, to be mysterious, but with him she felt transparent. He saw right through her. And for reasons beyond her control, she couldn’t hide how she felt. Not with him. She knew there was the distinct possibility that he would never be ready. That his past would continue to play a part in his present. That he would never have enough room in his heart for her. But, as reckless as it may be, she didn’t care. She was not going to back down. She refused to run and hide. No longer was she going to give up on something because there was a chance of getting hurt. Big risk, big reward, right? She shook her head, struggling to clear her busy mind. When she did, two words remained. Two words that she kept there, reminding her to keep going. Two little words: No fear. |
