After being abused for her whole life Dakota deserves to be happy.
Looking at myself in the mirror I felt ashamed, well more different then ashamed. I was the ugly duckling of the family. I had a round face, green almond shaped eyes, small tiny lips, freckles sprinkled over my cheekbones, and long black hair that looked blue. The rest of my family had short brown hair, round blue eyes, zero freckles and regular lips. They all made fun of me constantly about how "ugly" I am.

Rubbing the straps of my tank top between my fingers I slipped on a pair of old jeans and pulled my Ambercombie & Fitch sweatshirt over my head. Now what shall I do with my hair? It naturally straightens itself and has a healthy glow year round that my family finds revolting. I frowned and grabbed a hair band and pulled my hair up into a bun just as a knock on the door pulled me out of the bathroom.

"Hello who is it?" Peeking around the corner of the door I quickly applied mascara and some grey eye shadow.

"Megan, open the door!" Megan is my older sister. She is only one year older and has short blonde curly hair and is extremely popular. Just last week she had her Sweet Sixteen and while she partied Mom had me in the basement scrubbing at mold. Not fun.

"One sec!" Checking my makeup I grabbed my chap stick and walked to the door. "What do you want Megan!" Pressing my ear against the door I heard her sigh.

"I really need to talk to you, please just open up." Groaning I unlocked my door and she barged in. Megan wore a short black dress and black heels. Her lipstick was four shades to bright and her eye shadow four shades to dark. Pushing me onto the bed she locked the door.

"What's this about Megan?" Pausing she looked at me and smiled. "No! I will not loan you any money! Get a job if you want money cause I'm not gonna pay for your pointless shopping sprees." Frowning she almost looked hurt but I knew better.

"Dakota you should know me better then that." Choking on my laughter she scowled at me. "Dakota, I just came to say sorry." I froze, that's shocking. "Last week when I had my party you should have been upstairs partying with me. Chase was there and he would stop asking for you. Mom told me to tell him that you were visiting your grandparents in Michigan." My heart threatened to beat out of my chest. Chase Sayer has been my crush since I started high school. He was 6'5, had dark, curly brown hair and had the most shocking brown eyes and always spoke the truth.

"Oh,okay. Well," Smoothing out my sheets I picked at my pillow case that really need washing." I'm going to see him anyways." I was actually going to meet him at Mike's Pizza Plaza in an hour.

"Good lil sis. I hope you forgive Mom for what she did. She really does love you." At the same moment we burst out into laughter. " That's a lie, ever since Mom lost her job she hates everyone." Stopping I shook my head. That wasn't true, Mom treated everyone else like her kids or like a priceless piece of art. I was treated like a kitchen stain, she tried to scrub me out of her life but I can't be removed.

"Sure. Thanks Meg for coming to talk to me." Nodding she began to leave the room. "It means a lot to me." I smiled because it was true. All my other siblings never even looked at me. She was almost out of the door when she turned and looked at me.

"I think you and Chase would make a cute couple, just don't let him push you around." Nodding she closed the door and I ran forwards and locked it. Letting out a sigh of relief I pulled my phone out from my bra. Three texts from Chase, I grinned.

Dakota? U there? Hello! R u mad @ me? Giggling I looked at the second.

Dakota takota lakota! Ansa the fone! *Heart* YA! I was shocked. He actually said he loved me! Taking a deep breath I opened the last and final text.

U no wat? I'm calling u @ in 5! Looking at the time of the text it read 2:25 and it was already 2:30.

Right on cue my phone began to vibrate and Chase's name popped up on my screen with a picture of me and him at the ice cream parlor. I answered.

"Hello?"

"Dakota! Why wouldn't you answer my texts?" He sounded worried.

"I was chatting with Megan. Are we still on for pizza?" He laughed causing my heart to burst.

"Of course. Actually," In the background I heard the rumbling of his motorcycle. "I'm outside your window." Running to my window I laughed a actual laugh.

"Chase oh my gosh! I'll be right down." Hanging up I applied my lip gloss and dabbed some of my favorite perfume on my neck and opened my window.

Slowly and carefully I began my descend down. Luckily for me, I knew this house frontwards and back. Placing my hands carefully on the ledges I jumped down and fell backwards. Ow.

"Dakota are you okay?" Looking up I watched Chase run to my side.

"Is my bun okay?" Reaching for my bun he laughed.

"Yes it's fine! Come on." Lifting me up I rubbed my head.

"That hurt really bad." Frowning he laughed and hugged me.

"Awe is my Dakota gonna be a baby?" I pulled away with a grin.

" I am not a baby!" Handing me his helmet I put it on and tightened the straps. He kept laughing as he got on the motorcycle. I followed. "Let's just go to your house."

"Dakota I didn't know you were kinky like that!" Punching his shoulder I couldn't help but giggle.

"Shut up Chase! We can order pizza and watch movies." He nodded and clutch onto the gas. We jumped forward. "Chase!" Laughing we went forward and we left the house behind. I wish I could do this all the time.
