Although written about a vase it's about taking things for granted.
The Vase

The vase was a beautiful vase, fine china with a floral design, and five precious diamonds encrusted in it's handle. It was quite old, 25 years to be exact. Through the years the vase had went thru several moves, but for the most part had suffered no damage. The last year though the vase had suffered some cracks. The woman who owned the vase had thought about selling it. So she called an antique dealer, that she knew. She thought that she had found something more valuable than the vase, that she wanted to buy. The antique dealer told her no, that he wasn't interested in selling the vase in his shop. He told her to take another look at the vase. So she decided to take another look. She realized that the vase was unique, one of a kind. As reality hit her, she realized the vase was quite valuable to her, irreplacable. Memories of when she had first recieved it, came flashing through her mind. She decided then that she would have to take extra care of it, for it to last. She would start by mending the cracks that were there, and putting it somewhere safe. She realized that she had been foolish to consider selling something so valuable. something that couldn't be replaced. So she called up the antique dealer and thanked him for saying no. He was kind and told her it was just something that he wouldn't buy or sell in his business. So now the vase sits in a sheltered cabinet, protected...still as beautiful as the day she received it and the cracks are barely noticible at all.
