A poem about self-realization
Emptiness within, emptiness without,
a shell filled with uncertainty and doubt.
I have led a directionless life,
friends can't replace a child or a wife.

I squandered my time and let life slip by
while all I did was party and lie.
I lied to myself saying I want to be free,
to do as I wished, it was all about me.

That life has grown stale,it's no longer fun,
being alone, no daughter, no son.
I always thought I was such a strong man,
headstrong and willful, but that's a flash in the pan.

My strength is now gone, I'm no longer strong,
everything's changed, all I do is wrong.
I need something good, something that's right
that will fill my heart, make the day seem bright.

I need a change, something to give me courage,
I'm going to ask God, I hope I don't get discouraged.
Lord if you're there I'm on my knees,
I need love in my life, I'm asking, please.
