One of my older poems. Who is the true protector, the angel, or the one who saves her? |
Burning wings and broken halos litter the sky as their light fades away. Darkness swallows the souls, so greedy, devouring all that is pure; with restless revenge and untiring strength it shatters the peace and smothers the light. One by one the stars they fall, another soul is swallowed whole; blackness creeps upon our world, consuming all. Love and Hope vanish in the face of Fear, turning one against another as sister fights brother, as father fights mother. I lay here in the Darkness: my wings are torn and chains threaten to crush my soul. My world is no longer light, only black and red, the broken and dead. Darkness and blood leave only pain; the Light is no more, Peace is never again But as I lay here, falling into the Blackness, a memory of a burning love flickers across my heart, and your face I see shining before me, your wings spread wide and sword in hand. Your warmth washes away the cold (don't fade away) Your Light illuminates the world around me (keep the fire in your soul) You lift me up and give me strength: hold onto me and help me fly, give me the courage to rise above, strength to protect the ones I love; in this blade I weild give me a burning flame so I can fight and reignite the Everlasting Light. |
