Is he running away? or running towards something.

Running away

I watch the cigarette slowly come to an end, I take one final desperate toke and watch closely as the bud falls to the floor. I stare into a shop window and glance at my reflection, I look lost, confused and afraid. Life is a strange thing because two weeks ago I was doing well at the job, falling in love with a beautiful woman and could only see bright lights and nice sights ahead.

Oh how foolish I was to believe things where finally going my way. The girl like all the others turned into a psycho, she came running into the job in tears leaving the boss with only one option.

"Sorry Daniel but we have to let you go.."

These where the empty words that echoed down my telephone as I felt fear and dread wash over me. You see it's ironic because I had escaped this world once before, I came home after a day because of strange dreams. Strange dreams of a beach, New Brighton Beach. It was here I was able to find the job and the woman, it was also because of those two factors that I was once again getting ready to escape.

Strange and ironic that what lured me back home would ultimately push me further away. Fate perhaps? I honestly don't know, I have little money in my pocket and a leather bag of clothes wrapped around my shoulders. Walking away now from the shop window I head yet again down to the beach, I need to hear the crashing waves once more, I need to sit and stare out to the deep blue sea, the place the girl told me that she loved me.

Did she truly love me? was it all just a silly childish game to her? I'll never know or find the answers I seek. The only thing left for me now is to stare out to that ocean, turn and walk away into an uncertain future.

I need to believe in a world where I can wake up with a smile, I need to pray that waking up alone will be more than enough to make it through the day.
