A piece that I did for uni. It mixes Shakespearean and Eminem styles.
Lose Thyself

Perceive, if thou hadst a single shot, merely a solitary chance
To capture all thy hopes and dreams in a single instant
Wouldst though grasp it tightly, or perchance would it slip thy grasp

His hands doth sweat, his knees doth shake
His arms hang as if dragged by weights
Upon his doublet vomit sprays betray
The dread which he dareth not display
His face is with calm and certainty scored
And yet from his memory is hid the record
Of the script he hath prepared, the audience roars
His mouth gapes wide, but no words burst forth
He does cough and gag, the audience bored
Depart, the act ended, play cancelled, curtain falls
He returns to the ordinary, down in the drudgery
Oh, sSee tis Will , he cannot act!
Oh let no light see my black and deepest desires
Poverty irks me, clings to me like dirt, it
Mires my progress, aids my frailty
But they underrate my capability
So I return, my quill and ink quickly
Refilled record this moment for eternity

Thou shouldst lose thyself in these lines, this time only
Is thine own, Thou hast but one chance, allow it not to pass you by.
This opportunity, once past, is lost forever. [x2]

My spirit dashes through this gash in my breast
Mine is the Universe, I will seize it
Crown me monarch of a kingdom more glorious
Than this. But this renown it proves murderous
It grows ever more laborious, ever more torturous
Strumpets flock, beauties throng round him
From Globe to Rose he will flow never ceasing,
Like a river he goes, Heaven only knows where
The distance to his home is increasing
He knows not his child, his beauteous smiles ignored
But hold thy breath as icy waters pour
O’er his benumbed head, whores and wenches deplore
His advances spurned, despised, ignored, tThey  espy
A fresh carcass over which to fly.
He is cankerous, ruined, reviled, decried
His life is the drama, revealed a tragic saga
But hark, the trumpet
Tra pa pum pa pum

Thou shouldst lose thyself in these lines, this time only
Is thine own, Thou hast but one chance, allow it not to pass you by.
This opportunity, once past, is lost forever. [x2]

Cease with thy Jests, I will test the limits of anger
Cleave this theatre apart from stage to rafter
What was begun as a farce collapsed in disaster
Am I a worm to be jeered at by every stranger
Yet I shall marshallmarshal my strength to pen the next production
Taking heart someone must desire this rare vision
Of Hheaven . My frustration magnified by degradation
Barely scratching crumbs from the table of privation
Keeping my family from the clutches of destruction
My unanswered prayers feel like excommunication.
Perchance the very devil is mounting his contagion
To scorn me for my repute throughout the nation,
But tis ever more precarious a balance now
A plague on Hamnet’s mother and her rows
Hollering and mewing till I bow to my vexations
And depart, this heart-rendering farce of life
Bites me like a knife. I must this talent use to
Fight the strife of a life void of revelry.
Mother, I beseech thee, I can’st not mine dotage
Spend in this nest of vipers and thieves.
I shall seek my reprieve, my good name retrieve
And attempt this immortality to achieve.

Thou shouldst lose thyself in these lines, this time only
Is thine own, Thou hast but one chance, allow it not to pass you by.
This opportunity, once past, is lost forever. [x2]

Thou canst all things attain, if thy heart is set true upon them.

Dope Sonnets

XVIII - 18
You’re like the sun in the middle o’ summer
Better even, of that I got no doubt
Hurricanes blow petals off the hummer
Blink and summer’s already movin out
Sometimes the sun beams hit me like a train
Sometimes it shines so little I can’t see
Beauty don’t last, it wrinkles and it stains
Old age, make up and a sun bed spree
But, babe, your summer time will never end
You’ll never lose your beaming eyes and face
Nor will death say “I got you in the end”
When these lines I writ he can’t erase
As long as men are livin’, breathin’, seein’
That’s how long you’ll live within my rhythm.

CXVI - 116
No-ones gonna convince me of this fact
That true love can be stopped. It just ain’t love
If it flips with every bling new hat
Or with some silly fight can be removed.
No, it’s like a battle wound, a scar
Ain’t changed by any insult or bad day
It’s like a sign post to a long lost car
Which after miles of driving points the way
Time won’t beat love, even when he takes
Your full red lips and adds some wrinkles to boot
Love outlasts all of fashions fakes
Through anything it is strong and won’t stay mute
If this ain’t right, and you can prove it
I’ll tear this up an’ then I’ll eat it.

CXXX 130
My girl’s eyes ain’t nothing like starlight;
Blood is way more red than her lips are
If bronze shines bright, then her skins sickly white
If hair’s gold thread, then she got hair like tar.
I’ve seen roses bright red and bright pink,
But I ain’t never seen em in her cheeks
And I enjoy her Chanel more, I think
Than I enjoy the whiff from off her feet
I adore her singing, but I got
That I enjoy Beyonce’s voice well more
I know a movie star, my girl is not
My baby, she’s got two feet on the floor
But hell, my baby’s worth far more than any
Stuck up bitch compared with a day that’s sunny.

CXLIX 149
Yo Babe, why you saying I don’t love you true
You know I’d fight your side against my own.
Ain’t I always thinking just about you
And beatin’ myself till I can see the bone
Who disrespects you that I call my ‘blood ’?
Who do you bitch slap that I well admire?
If you glare at me, don’t I beat and thud
Myself tTill my head feels like it is on fire.
What about me is so great that I
Would refuse to be your personal slave
All that’s dope in me adores the shite
In you, you know it,it; it is in your gaze.
But, Shorty, you can hate me all you like
Cos I can’t see you hate me out of spite.
(Please note that ambiguous last line reflects same ambiguity in Shakespeare's sonnet)
