I tried so hard to remain alone
I didn't want to be hurt so I tried so hard to keep my heart made of stone

but then you walked into my life
out of the night came this bright shining light

but you kept coming back to see me day after day
so in the end I embraced you and said Ok

then I saw you with the other man
you gave me a scared look as if to say go away
only to call me the next day with promises that you would stay

but I couldn't return your calls and accept you back
