Writers Cramp entry!
The light changes and I drive through the intersection and pull into the lot at the office. I park amongst the other cars in my normal slot and go inside for shift turnout. That’s the time we all gather in a small classroom like setting and the sergeant gives us briefing for the day on the prior days happenings of any significance. As I walk thru the two inch thick steel door and wave hi to the dispatcher on duty I accidentally bump into three members of the swat team headed out fully geared up.
“Hey Tom where you guys going”, I yell out as they head towards the SWAT van in the lot.
Tom is a little mouse of a man but carries himself with the pride of a lion. He was always standing tall, as much as he could, with his chest out and a serious smile on his face. Dumping his AR16 gently into the van he yells back, “Range practice for monthly qualifications”.
I waved good bye and walked into the turnout room. I have been a cop for 15 years now. I am 35 years old and have been divorced once almost 3 years ago. I consider myself married to my job and really haven’t dated since. I get all the satisfaction I need from being a cop and I have no desire for a relationship, casual or otherwise and it has been this way for quite some time. However as I watch my newest partner of three months walk into the room I find myself pondering those thoughts yet again. Hannah Vinson is the most unique woman I have ever known. She is 31 years old and built as solid as any male cop I have worked with but she also maintains a feminine side to herself that doesn’t conflict at all with her cop image. If anything it accents it very well. She is a swat team sniper and proficient in any firearm we have shot together. She has beaten my score on monthlies once and she can drive a patrol car not only as well as any male partner I’ve had but better than most.
I made the mistake a couple weeks ago of inviting her to a barbeque at my house for the whole squad. I didn’t even think of what it meant that it was 97 degrees outside. I have an in ground swimming pool that the whole squad uses often. Hannah is the first female that has been on our squad in a very long time and the only one that hasn’t been a lesbian. The mistake was that when it came time to swim she changed into her swim suit, a two piece bikini. I wasn’t the only one that took note of her body. She had perfect muscle tone from her head to her toe. Her skin color was the most subtle caramel shade and her breasts were not huge but were in no way small and obviously natural. She had used the diving board with the skill of an Olympic gymnast.
From that point on I couldn’t seem to get her out of my mind. I tried time and time again to convince myself it was sheer lust but I couldn’t. This was not a woman with a perfect body and an empty head. Not only was she smart and beautiful but she could charm even the most angry suspect.
Taken out of my reverie I said hi to her as we sat down and the sergeant began telling us about a serial rapist loose in downtown or something but I couldn’t pay much attention with her subtle perfume tickling my nose and the occasional brush of an arm when she shifted in her seat that sent electricity arcing along my arm and into my spine.
Turnout was dismissed and I followed Hannah out to our car. It was her turn to drive tonight so I got my equipment ready for passenger duty and we pulled out and took off towards our district.

Later that night we were wrapping up an arrest of a suspect that had stabbed his girlfriend to death and then ran. The K9 had to track the idiot down and somehow he managed to capture him without getting a bite injury on the bad guy. I was just finished typing my report and clicked save to send it to the server for supervisor approval. Hannah was still typing so I headed towards the armory to refresh my taser. As I set the box of batteries down I felt someone behind me. I turned around and Hannah was there staring at me.
“Hey” I said but she just stared back at me with that alluring smile she always seems to be wearing. She grabbed the vault armory door and slowly closed it shut. A loud click signaled the lock engaged and internal lighting activated.
“What…” I tried saying but I was suffocated as she pressed her lips hard onto mine. Apparently she had been thinking some of the things I had been. At the speed of light several thoughts entered my mind. We are both single and young and very much want this. Probably improper while on duty but I didn’t care. Plus we were in the armory and that was all it took.

Twenty minutes later we both lay side by side on the makeshift blanket we had made on the cold steel floor not saying a word. Getting up we start gathering our equipment and gear and then she looks at me with a slight panicky look.
“You’re going to need to use your key to unlock the door”, with an expectant look boring into my eyes.
Panic wells up with inside me and I feel my stomach turn. “Oh my god I left my keys in the squad room”
With a sinking feeling of what was to come I pulled out my cell phone and dialed the dispatcher!
