When the sun starts to get too hot, the world starts

The heat. Part 1 Chapter 1 I sat still awake at two o'clock in the morning, staring at the open door flooding with darkness. I couldn't go to sleep, and I didn't know why. I got up covered in sweat, and walked in the hallway reaching for the light switch. I kept reaching for the light swich until I fell downstairs. Each stair stabbing me in my body. Finally I slammed on the ground with a loud thump. I got up feeling as if all my bones were broken, which wasn't true. I felt hot, really hot. I looked at the air conditioner switch, it was on high. Why was it this hot? I ignored the heat, and walked into the bathroom grabbing a sleeping pill. I gulped it down, and sat at the table waiting for it to make me tired. A little bit later I felt drousy, I walked up the stairs almost falling again then got in bed. I had no trouble sleeping then. The next morning I woke up feeling hotter than last night. I took of my sheets, which were covered in sweat, then got up and walked downstairs. I looked at the thermometer, it was one hundred eighty degrees, in December. Chapter 2 I was certainly surprised, one hundred eighty degrees in December? I went in the kitchen, and poured myself a glass of water. I gulped down the cold water, which barely made a difference because of the heat. I looked outside, there was no cars, or people. They probably stayed in due to weather. What could be causing this weather? I looked at the thermometer, it raised one degree in front of my eyes. If I have to go through this weather, might as well make the best of it. I grabbed a bag of chips, and some lemonade then slumped on the couch. I clicked on the TV, and watched my show. Before I knew it it was night again. I knew if it was hotter, I couldn't sleep. I took another sleeping pill, waited, then went to bed. The next morning me, and my bed were soaked in sweat. It felt hotter than yesterday, or the day before yesterday. It was so hot, when I got up the ground burned my feet. Chapter 3 I put on some slippers then walked downstairs. I gasped, the thermometer read over two hundred degrees. The air conditioner was still on high, and it was on all night. I got my cell phone, and called my friend. He picked up, "Hey! Whats up Danny?" he said. "Ahhh, nothing. Have you noticed the weather?" I asked. "Yeah dude, bummer right?" he replied. "No, it's more than a bummer! It raises like five degrees every night! It's crazy!" I complained. "Listen man, the swimming pool is open. Wanna head over there? Today it's half off to get in it." He offered. "There would be a million people there." I said. "It's so hot people don't bother to leave their houses.". "Thats good, come get me I don't have a car right now.". "Holy-" He started, then there was a loud crashing noise. He screamed, then the phone turned into static. "Hello? Rick? You there?". There was no answer, just static. I hung up. Then I heard a crack. I looked around. I heard it again. Where was it coming from. Then I saw that the window was starting to crack. What? Whats causing it to crack? Then it started to crack faster. Then the window broke. Then I knew, it was the heat that caused the window to break. |
