Six person creative writing exercise. Covers several topics and points of view. |
** This poem was born from a six person creative writing exercise. Each had a sheet of paper on which one line was written. The paper was passed to the next person who added a line, and so on, until each paper had six lines. Each mini poem was then put together with the others to form one big one. Some of us thought it sounded just fine that way, others thought it would sound better with some connecting words or lines. Also, since it was a cold writing with no chance for editing, some word choices were possibly not as skilled as we might have wished. To appease all participants, this version has the connecting words/lines (as well as alternative words or phrases in some cases) in parentheses so that the original can be distinguished from my changes. ** I have a revelation for you. Being (Having you as) my close, life-long companion, has been one of the best parts of my life, And my worst enemy. I seek to rid myself of you, but (and) yet... I stumble, and awaken every morning to know the truth: That it will never end. Evermore will I have you at my side being my friendly, but deadly enemy. In the silence of darkness the view was (is) deafening. Overlooking ( I overlook) a skyline of broken dreams meshed with love, And a fire burning so hot that I actually had (have) to leave the room. It was (is) my time to go, I know that my love will not be forever shattered. An image is made of only small pieces of the whole, after all. In my silence, I found (find) myself wanting To fulfill my pure, sacred desires. It has to happen some time. My heart swells with longing while my sorrow rises; A flood in which I can drown, or swim, Or fly above upon wings of hope, and feel destiny against my skin. On my way to eternity I...(realize) It is time for a gathering of friends and family. Whether they are near or far they are always in my heart, Bright sparks which guide each (me) through their (my) abyss; Where the maelstrom churns; where all those lost to oblivion cry for release. I release...We release...Our cry for peace...We become whole. The moon is full and bright. As the night swells with the Lady's power, Her nectar feeds my yearning, giving life. The darkness recedes from (my) eyes, and all the power of reality fills me this night, Burning thick holes in our (my) souls (soul) to help bleed out the pain; The pain of loving one another. And the revelation is, that all we have is love. Moon light shines brightly above as I feel Her light energy reaching out for me. Fingertips caress all the hurt, the tired, and the Lost parts of me (the self) . Yet fire burns in my soul, my spirit not yet spent. Dancing in moonlight clears my head of past sorrows which should be long forgotten. I love you. It (I) will always be there. |
