Pat the Clairvoyant

Pat knew for a long time that a clairvoyant gift was something that most people would never understand. Early in her life, Pat was aware of things that other children were not. See always felt awkward and isolated because no one else she knew could see and hear the same things she did. Growing up, Pat became a loner.



When Pat was a young married woman, expecting her first child, there was an incident that alarmed Pat enough to reveal her gift. She and her husband were the guests of honor at a party in her mother-in-law’s home. There was quite a bit of drinking going on at this party and because Pat was nearly 4 months pregnant, she was tired and not feeling well. Pat went upstairs to lie down and fell into a restless sleep. Just after midnight, Pat woke with a start and went downstairs calling for her mother-in-law as she walked.



Pat asked where her husband, Douglas was. She insisted that he had been in a car accident and that he was badly injured. No one who was there believed her even though Douglas and his friends had left the house about twenty minutes earlier to go to a local bar. As Pat sat on the bottom step putting on her shoes to go and find her husband, the phone rang. On the line was a police officer informing Pat’s mother-in-law that her son, Douglas had been in a serious accident and was being transported to the hospital.



When Pat’s mother-in-law hung up the phone, she stood with her eyes wide open and her jaw dropped. “How on earth did you know that Douglas had been in an accident?” she asked. Unable to explain being clairvoyant in a way they would understand, Pat just stood up, shrugged her shoulders and replied, “I just knew.”
