A poem inspired by an eating contest held at a mall where I worked. |
"Eating Contest at the Local Mall" Your inability to remember the Children who Cry; the women who break their bodies to continue the LIFE that brings pain and and we In Our Malls Surrounded by Plastic and Packaging Glittering Glass (cleaned at the minimum price per hour of American Life) In Our Malls We Challenge each other to EAT Cheering encourages the madness Gift card prizes and momentary recognition enables the mind to destroy inhibition Open your mouth Close your eyes They eat until they are sick While the child starves until She is BLIND and the animals give to the Humans who take and break their waist bands, Sacrificed to Gluttony Cramming Nutrients to Deprive the Eyes of Decency Human morality breached Celebrated Sloth Mall Punks and the impoverished youth Look at the Kid who is feeding his Ego with the Calories of Carnivores His mother glances at him, so proud of her boy How do you sleep at night When Bloated Bellied Babies Scream So Loud You should hear All the way over here in the land of the FREE where Food is Free and Freedom is controlled While portion sizes are out of Control |
