Twas Christmas Day, and all through the house-
The walls rang with laughter, which woke up the mouse.
As the children sprang out of their four-poster beds,
Out from sugarplum dreams that danced in their heads.
They ran down the stairs with a leap and a bound,
To a glimmering Christmas tree, where the presents were found.
They all rushed to the tree, and grabbed a package or two-
Tore the paper, reached in, and pulled out a dream come true;
Baseball bats, doll houses, miniature toy trains,
Board games, books, and many candy canes.
And as the children played with their new Christmas treasure,
A noise shook the house; a voice that warmed with holiday pleasure.
"Ho, ho, ho", the children heard the voice say,
"That was our last stop, lets be on our way!"
The children ran to the window, and to them appeared,
A miniature sleigh, pulled by eight tiny deer.
And the children's smiles widened, as they heard Santa say;
"Merry Christmas to all, and have a blessed, merry day!"
