this is part of a book I am writing.
Gabriella sat all alone on a rock in front of her house waiting for her mother to come home with her sister, every car that drives by makes Gabby look up anxiously hoping that it was her mother. Gabriella was waiting for her mother to get home so she could take the car, so she can go to the mall to get some new clothes for the first day of her new school. She wanted a new look for this school; she wanted to re-invent herself, since no one at this school will know who she is. Gabriella’s mother moved their family from Ohio all the over to California, Her mother is running away from her Husband.

Her father wasn’t the greatest person in the world, when he was watching Gabriella and her sister he either ignored them or beat them continually. Gabby is really happy leaving him faraway from where they are, so is the rest of the family. her mother who didn’t know what was happening, found out one day when Gabby called the cops on him from the neighbors house, which happened to be her Aunt’s House. Her mother never thought that he would ever hit the kids if he was hitting her, which he did all the time.

After all this happened Gabby’s mother thought it would be best if they just go far away as possible, the farthest place she could think of was California where in never snows and is most of the time warm. Gabby really thinks it beautiful in California, she loves that it is warm in the day and cold at night. Gabby really is happy about leaving there, but there is some people who she misses. Her Grandparents who she is very close with are really missed by her and her cousins whom she is pretty close with, she talks to her grandparents almost every day on the phone.

A black Honda Civic Accord pulls into the driveway and her mother and sister get out of the car and starts walking up to front door of the house when Gabby stops them right in their tracks. “Hi” Gabby says to her mother “hi sweetie” her mother says back. “Can I borrow the car to go to the mall?” she asked bagging. ”Sure but don’t be too long and be careful you know you only have a learners permit “her mother says handing over the keys. “I’ll be careful, I promise.” Gabby gets in the car, and drives off to the mall.

Gabby gets to the mall and is amazed of the size of it, she walks up to the front doors and into the mall. The May-crest mall is a two story high mall that is the biggest mall in the Valley, It has over 2,000 stores and venues and over 10 different places to eat at in the food court. Gabby walks around the mall looking for stores that she would like to shop in, and getting use to where everything is. Gabby never has seen a mall that is this big before, the mall in West View, Ohio was one story high, it had a few stores in it and their food court had only four different places to eat at.

She walked around the mall for two hours looking at clothes, shoes and purses and finds a few things that she wanted to buy. She walks into the food court and sits down at a table, looks around the mall to see what they have to eat. She catches the eye of a boy, gives him a small smile and starts to look around the food court. “Cool they have Big Burgers” she says smiling. Big Burgers was one of her favorite place to eat at in Ohio, and she was happy that they had them here.
Gabriella grabs all her bags and walks up to the ordering area in Big Burgers. “How may I help you?” says the person behind the counter. “I would like a Big quarter pounder combo with a medium sized pop, Please” she said forgetting she wasn’t in Ohio “maim’ what is a pop?” she said confused. “Oh, I am sorry I meant a soda.” A loud laugh startles her and makes her jump.

“Oh I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you” said a voice that came from behind her. Gabby turns around and noticed that is was the boy who she caught eyes with. “So I am guessing you are not from here?” he asked smiling. Gabriella blushing replies “Nope” Gabby turns back around to the cashier. “How much is the total?” she asked trying not to glance back at the boy.
“Six dollars and sixty three cents maim” she said looking at the cash register screen. Gabby gives her the money and takes the cup that the lady placed on the counter. She walks over to the soda machine and picks out her soda, the boy fallows her there. Gabriella turns to him “did you want something?” She asked giving him a strange look. “I just want to get to know you better, you seem very interesting” she just stairs at him for a moment then walks away.

She walks up to the counter and grabs her food and sits back at the table. The boy sits down with her’ “why are you following me around like a puppy?” gabby asked the boy. “Well, like I said at the soda machine I want to get to know you better” he said smiling. Gabby thought “he is cute; but why was I getting all this attention from him?” she smiled back at him then said. ”But I don’t even know your name” the boy laughed “oh how rude, sorry my name is Jason stone” he said extending his hand out to her.

“What is your name?” Jason asked still having his hand extended out to her. “Gabby” she says, wondering if she should shake his hand. “Nice to meet you Gabby” Jason says pulling his hand back. “Nice to meet you” Gabby repeats. “So what part of Ohio?” Jason asked remembering that was where she was from, “a small town in Ohio” Gabby replied. “What is the name of this town?” asked Jason, “does it matter? Gabby asked. “No I guess not” Jason said, “so…” Jason was interrupted buy one of his friends.

“Hey Jason, are you coming?” a voice says from across the food court, “yeah, I’m coming” Jason responds. “So, I will see you around, Gabby” Jason says getting up from where he was sitting. “Sure” Gabby replies. Gabby gets up and throws away her garbage; she takes the last sip of her pop and throws it away, she walks out to the car and leaves.

Gabby drives down the street and looks at all the houses; Gabby wonders why all the houses look the same, some of the houses were bigger in sized, some had more than one garage and had double doors going into the house; but never-the-less they looked all the same. She drives up to her house, her house was one of the smallest houses on the block; the house was freshly painted a beige color, and the terracotta red roof was recently power washed which made it shine in the sun. the house is two stories; with eight rooms upstairs; it only had one garage; a big window in the front , and one maroon door that opens up in to a hall way.

The front door swings open revealing he cream color of the hallway walls, she took a step in and sighed. Gabby wonders why they need this big house when there are only three of them living there. She walked down the hallway to the kitchen, which is pretty big in size. The kitchen walls are painted a light blue color; the cabinets that are hanging up are made of a solid dark oak wood. Next to the door is a metal two door fridge, which has metal handles. The kitchen counter tops is made out of black marble and had a lot of storage space underneath it; the sink is black with a metal faucet with a window above it. In the middle of the kitchen sits the island, which was made to match the kitchen counter tops and the cabinets. The stove that sits by the sink is made also of metal, and is a flat-top stove.

Gabriella walks into the kitchen and looks around the kitchen. “Where is everyone?” She wonders. She opens up the fridge door and looks around the fridge looking for something to drink. She moves around a few things, and finds a bottle of water. She takes out the water, unscrews the lid and takes a sip. “Ahhh that is good” she said out loud. She places the lid back on the water and walks out of the kitchen back to the hallway where the stairs are to the upstairs. She starts to walk up the stairs and she starts to count the stairs out loud. “One, two, three, and four… she gets up to the top of the stairs. “Geese there are a lot of stairs” she said worn out from counting all the stairs.

All of a sudden a noise spreads threw the upstairs hallway making Gabby jump. ”What is that racket?”Gabby says startled. She walks down the hallway past her room to the room next to hers; she opens the door to find her mother hammering some nails to the walls. “Geese mom, hammer any louder” she says jokingly to her mother, making her mom jump. “Oh hi Sweetie didn’t hear you come home” she paused “how was the mall?” she asked placing the hammer on the bed. “It’s a big mall” she replied “there are tons of stores and its two stories.
“That’s good Honey.”
