A poem written after discovering the lies of a lover.
Spin me a lie in fine golden thread,
Sprinkle it with stardust, weave it into a web.
Stand back and watch it, as it traps my heart,
Sit there and wait, plotting when to depart.

Dazzled by glitter, the finest I'd seen,
I stayed in the web, completely serene.
Seduced by the shimmer, of your golden thread,
I believed your sweet words; every lie ever said.

How you hung over me, spinning a myth,
Wrapping me tightly, in a personalised crypt.
You lovingly worked me, said you were mine,
Golden threads tightened with artful design.

Confused by emotion, hanging so bound,
I seemed not to notice the web moving around.
One day you told me, of the other one there,
And that you loved her, and no longer cared.

With smooth deft motion, you cut me free,
The golden thread loosened, I could clearly see.
Gone was the stardust that blinded my eyes,
All I saw was a spider, and a web of your lies.
