A sweet thought of what true love can be like
The endless blue of her eyes drew his sanity into her so deeply he wondered
if he would have any left when their gaze broke. He could see and feel words
flowing from his mouth and watched hers in return, but his mind couldn't
register what they were speaking. Finally the trance was snapped by an
unknown, deep and rhythmic voice that commanded, "You may now kiss the
bride." At the moment when their lips connected it was the most amazing
feeling for Jake. Before this time Victoria's and his lips had never made
contact. As their lips parted company, they became aware of people cheering.
This was definitely a glorious day for all included.
With glee Jake swept her off her feet and carried his exquisite bride down
the aisle as everyone started to follow them out. They headed for where the
reception was being held. The decorators had done an excellent job in the
reception hall where every detail was just right for his perfect woman.
The thought that flashed through his mind as he glanced around and looked at
his new wife was a praise of thankfulness to God for all that he had blessed
Jake with. He set Victoria down as they came to the head table. He looked
back into those ocean colored eyes and found the world he was most happy in.
"I love you," Jake tenderly said.
As everyone gathered in and received their food the mood relaxed into a
comfortable, quiet chatter. The atmosphere was shattered with the tinking of
metal on crystal. Tony, the best man, had stood up at the head table. "I
have a little something i would like to say to the lovebirds." He paused for
a second. "In a world of emotional chaos only a blessed few find true love,
at least God's definition of it. I have come to know Jake over the past few
years and we have become brothers. The most prominent aspect I've learned
about Jake is his heart. He has a strong desire to serve the Lord and to
share the love that Jesus put there with the world and a very special
someone. Also, with what I have come to know about Vicky here, they are a
blessing to each other. You guys are so lucky to have found that special
bond." Tony sat down as everyone silently nodded and commended him.
The chair beneath Dennis, the father of the bride, scraped backwards as he
stood to make his speech. "Well just for the sake of embarrassment i have to
talk about my fond memories of these two. To start I still remember my
daughter at the age of two crawling onto my lap for me to read her a story."
He paused to collect himself. "I will always treasure our memories
Victoria." He turned his head. "Ah, my new son-in-law," he laughed. "All of
you should have seen him the first time we went to breakfast for our initial
talk. He was so nervous I wondered if he would pass out before I even spoke
two words. I know for the hour and a half we talked he had to have been on
the edge of his seat contemplating what I would talk about next. Little did
he know that I already respected this young man and approved his approach to
my daughter." He took a drink of water and cleared his throat. "I have come
to care about this young man and I am happy to have you as my son-in-law.
God bless you both." A lot of the people sat there with moist eyes and
smiles on their faces.

At that moment Jake decided to stand and say what he had written for his
bride. "My mind is bursting with words to say but when I look at you, the
words I have just can't portray well enough how I feel about you. What I can
say is when I see or think of you I honestly believe I know what Adam must
have felt when he first saw Eve. God is definitely a miracle worker to have
made the most beautiful creature I can lay my eyes on from his rib. So
figuratively I could say since God has destined us for each other, you are
the missing rib that completes me." He stopped for a second to let that sink
in. "Now I ask you if you would do me the honor of this dance?" Victoria
extended her hand as if to say yes.
Jake took a hold of it and walked out together to the dance floor. As they
began dancing he realized the lessons they had taken were paying off.
Everyone was mesmerized as the newlyweds glided across the floor. As they
finished the dance, the spell was broken and everyone started mingling
again. The father and mother of the bride stepped out on the floor as the
song changed and went to their respective persons to dance. The evening
continued on with ease as everyone danced and had fun.
The reception was coming to an end with the last of the presents opened and
the bride and groom preparing to leave for their honeymoon. Jake was proud
of the trip he arranged. He had met a famous rock star and had convinced the
man to let Jake rent the beach house on the guy's private island in the
Middle Americas.
It was finally time for them to head out. Everyone gathered together as they
said their goodbyes and got into his Porsche and headed towards the airport
with those little aluminum cans bouncing along in back. All the people
outside waved as the newlyweds drove into the sunset.
