About a personal experience I had in a relationship
Laying in the dark again frustrated by your absence
Thinking back when you were in my arms and it all made sense
Deep in love and happy we were
Now the hugs and kisses are all a blur

Days go and nights come
Watching the moon fade with the rising of the sun
Leaves will change and snow will fall
Seasons shift and still no call

Holding myself tightly, imagining you…
Hate to admit it, but I know it’s true.
The love has faded and drifted away
You leave me alone like its okay

The nights of sleeping alone
Sitting and staring at the phone
Waiting for that call or that text
Weeks go by and I feel more complex

What did I do wrong?
Did the newness fade or did we not belong?
It felt so right to be as one
Now I feel like you’re on the run…

You disappear days at a time
I’m intoxicated by Sade’s “Is love a crime?”
You robbed my heart and left it on the floor
Now my back is to the wall starring at the door

Waiting for you to walk in and rescue me
Return things back to the way they used to be
You and I making our hearts sing
A queen and her king

I’m left on the palace throne
Feeling abandoned and alone
Laying in the dark again frustrated by your absence
Thinking back when you were in my arms and it all made sense
