Just a few thoughts on the perception of what one should seek in life.
Life consists of brief, paramount highs, lengthy, monotonous plateaus and valleys that seem to exist as a counterpart to your contentment. These sinister valleys are waiting beneath you during those times when you are resting your tired being after a long climb to self-actualization. So, while you may be happy, the moment you lose your footing you’re bound to tumble to your emotional death. Not that sadness is an emotional death by any means. The TRUE valleys can only be described as being void of all feeling for the beauty that surrounds you during each waking moment. To be numb to the world is the most detrimental downfall, as nothing is being inwardly OR outwardly accomplished. Matters such as school and work do not apply to this theory. You can be shut off to what is around you and still go through the motions and succeed in things that will allow you to reach monetary success but still leave you without the real necessities of life. Wake up, go to school, work, sleep, wake up, go to school, work, sleep, the life of a drone. This cannot be considered an existence. It’s an endless punctuation to a multitude of sentences that really never form a work of art because they in themselves are not ideas. They are fragments of what your life could be and representations of the potential that is being foolishly aggregated in your being. Your true existence lies within what your soul yearns for, what makes the present not only bearable but valuable. I suppose one of the most difficult feats in this lifetime is to identify what it is that will cause this idea of a life to really become something substantial. It could be said that what is being sought is a composition of all the entities that provoke passion within your spirit.
It isn’t written in stone what you are meant to do with your time, that is for certain. For that matter, NOTHING is written in stone (but that is another topic altogether). You can only know that once you finally grasp that subsistence which causes you to truly feel, you should hold onto it with everything that you are. It will be difficult, as nothing worth having in life is easy. This, however, does not make it any less necessary. Staring blankly at a television screen or becoming cognitively obliterated at a college party does not bring you any closer to self-fulfillment. Those things are easy to accomplish and only result in the loss of time that could be put towards what is truly of great value to you. Everyone has that something that negates such actions of irresponsibility…nay, complacency. The human mind is not meant for lack of emotional and spiritual stimulation, and allowing only the mechanical components of your life to function will only leave you feeling like an empty and weathered shell of a person.
