Insurance Company failings. |
Something needs to be done about the Insurance Companies in this country. The are a ruthless pack of back stabbing thieves. I am learning this first hand. As you may know from my previous post I was in a bad car wreck in June. My car was hit head on by another driver who was driving on my side of the road. My ankle was broke in thirty places and required two surgeries to repair the damage. My oldest daughter Sierra who is eight broke her left collar bone and suffered a contused lung in the wreck. Sierra had to be air lifted to the hospital, while I and my youngest daughter were transported by ambulance to the hospital. The driver of the car that hit us was uninjured. He of course was driving on a suspended license and had no insurance. We of course have auto insurance and even carry uninsured motorist coverage as well, which we pay extra for. So we felt that we would be alright even though the other driver lacked insurance. Our auto policy stated that we had $10,000.00 per person in personal injury coverage and $100,000.00 uninsured motorist coverage per person with a 300,000.00 cap. So we should have been fine. But no our insurance company is refusing to pay out the uninsured motorist benefits. They have only paid out the personal injury money. The cost of Sierra being air lifted to the hospital was $11,000.00 alone. That's doesn't include her stay in the hospital. All together her medical bills come to over $23,000.00. My medical bills exceed $60,000.00 and I am just starting Physical therapy. And our insurance company is refusing to pay out money owed to us under the policy we've been paying for. So we had to go out and hire a Lawyer to sue our own insurance company. Which means a third of our settlement will go out the door to Attorney's fees and it will probably take more than a year to get a settlement. In the meantime we do have medical insurance that supposed to cover %80 of our medical bills. So we thought that will at least take care of most of our bills. Wrong again their fighting tooth and nail not to have to pay anything out claiming third party involvement. We of course have filled out all fifty forms they've sent on this matter and even supplied them with a letter from car insurance company stating car insurance has been exhausted. Their goal is to drag this thing out until we are forced to take bankruptcy to avoid my husband's wages being garnished. And this is what we get for the four hundred bucks a month my husband pays to have us all insured. The Government needs to start forcing these companies to uphold the policies were paying hard earned money for. Having to sue your own insurance company is up surd. |
