Chapter 7 to Vampire Trouble |
Chapter Seven I woke and looked around at my familiar room at the Hales’. “Roxy awake?” Mercy’s voice sounded in my ear. I sat up. Mercy sat cross-legged next to where my head had lain. “Yes, Hun.” The images from the warehouse crept into my mind. I remembered the thing that grew in me as I watched Mercy about to die. “Roxanne, are you okay?” The voice startled me and a flame appeared in my hand. I jumped and the flame extinguished. “It’s me, Joe.” “I know. Sam?” I had to know about her. Joe came in. “She’s fine; healing at the moment. It almost killed her, but she’ll live. You found your power. You’re a flame-starter?” He sounded unsure. “Can’t read me still?” I asked teasingly. “No.” Was his reply. I went over the images in my head. “I think I have more than one power. I can control wind, fire, earth and water. Plus, I have super hearing.” I smiled. “You can control spirit, too. Sam didn’t want to agree to care for Mercy because she wanted you to. Then you left without us being able to follow. We wanted to. You controlled our spirits. Therefore, you only have two powers. Which is more than the rest.” I mulled over that, “Can I still be with you?” “You and Mercy both; we’re a family.” We embraced and I never wanted to let go. I haven’t told you yet, but the trial went well and my father got six years in jail with no parole. I was happy, and my senior year went very well. Mercy, Joe and I live together in a house by ourselves. We still visit Mr. Hale and Sam, but Joe and I are expecting a baby of our own. After the baby is born, I plan to become a vampire. Typical, but it’s true. |
