You play like a song, you end like a song.
You’re the climax of a song
The suspended note
With everything in the background at its highest volume
The adrenaline rush, the shiver down my back
The very, very top of the track
You’re the top of it all, the climax of a song

Then again, you’re the quiet, mellow midpoint of a song
With the soft guitar pick
Plucking heartstrings, soothing souls
Breathing in and out with nowhere to go
Just floating half way
Caught in-between, content as can be
Riding the music, filled in the moment
You’re the quiet middle of a song

And you’re the mystery of the beginning of a song
When everything’s new
An exploration of the inspiring first couple of cues
You’re the energy of the music when it’s just getting started
Right when you’re settling in for the rest of the tune
Like a bunch of fresh blanks
Untouched, pure white blanks waiting to be filled
Holding so much potential, you’re the beginning of a song

And when you leave, you’re the end of a song
When the music’s fading, turning gray
When one starts to remember real life again
As the view backs up, zooms out and pulls away
You’re the silence that follows
The hollow ringing in my ear
When you leave, you’re the song’s fading end
In the end, you always seem to be the end of a song

You’re just like music: so, so alive
Send me soaring, have me racing
You let me touch the sky, feel so high
Then you hang me loose halfway, with the breeze in my face
One sudden, breathtaking moment of suspension
Where I feel the wind knocked out of me

And it’s never break
It’s always bend
You leave me bending
Wishing for breaking
Somehow you do
You leave me pacing

Oh, you play like a song
You end like a song
Carrying everything in that few good minutes
Hits me fast and hard
And I feel everything in those few good minutes
Then watch as you fade, listen for your exit
For the moment when all is quiet again
And when the music’s over, I’m left to wonder about it
Left to wonder about you again

You’re a song
You’re a song
You’re a song
Always moving on
Moving on
Moving on

You’re a song
