A guard notices the strange actions of the marines |
CHAPTER 1 - THE SERGEANT - 1830 HOURS: SPACE COLONY APR-6 “Boring” Wilks said to himself as he lay on his desk. Laying back on his chair, his long blonde hair touched the ground with ease. “I don’t see the point in surveillance, nothin’ ever happens. We're on a moon for god's sake!" He spots shadow moving on the monitor to his left. “Shit, what is that? A security breach? An enemy?” He moved closer to the monitor, sweating with fear. A small hover droid drifted past the screen, then came back and stared at the camera with its one camerascopic eye. “Hey Wilksy, how ya doing?” said the little droid. “Oh man, don’t do that Rove, I thought you were a breach” Rove lowered to the ground and whimpered, knowing that he got WIlks excited over nothing again. “Alright, I’m sorry about yelling at you, ok?” Wilksy said, trying to cheer him up. The little robot lifted its head “Apology accepted, can I come up?” Rove inquired as he regained his balance. “Sure” The comlink on the table activated. “What now?" He reached for his comlink "Private Wilks here, whats up?” A stern voice replied “Private, open gate B-6 for the marines, now”. It was the voice of Sergeant Jake Seller, leader of the marines that just arrived at the colony “But Sergeant Seller, that area has a level 10 restriction, I can’t let you past and besides, what are the marines needed there for?” Wilks enquired with a strange look upon his face “That’s classified, just open the gate” He sounded pretty serious. Laying back on his chair, Wilks told the sergeant “Fine, but you’re the one who gets demoted if your found”. “Right, found, Seller out” He said with an evil laugh. “What a creep” Wilks span on his chair as Rove hovered up the ladder. A loud thud echoed through the room as Rove collided with plate covering the manhole. "Ow" the droid simply said. Wilks burst out laughing "You idiot, you can't feel pain!" He couldn't stop laughing all the way to the manhole where he open the plate for Rove. "It's not that funny, I was programed like this". But still Wilks kept laughing, the thought of a droid that was programed to feel pain but given no receptors to actually feel it was quite hilarious. Still, the Sergeant wanting to go into section B-6 was still on his mind and he couldn't shake it, all that was there were the ANG-0 samples from Jupiter. "I don't like this" He stood up and moved towards the other side of the room, near his bed. "Oh well" He shrugged it off and lay down on his bed, and slowly drifted to sleep under the sound of Rove's hover generator's humming. |
