A poem about wanting love, but being unwilling to take it. |
| I sat without hope for so long Aware of the tempting beauty That I want but won't take. It's a hard life, the coward's You dazzled me at first sight And I defied the wish of age For beauty lies but skin deep. It's a hard life, the coward's, I spoke to you so lightly Afraid of the revalation That confirmed my adage. It's a hard life, the coward's. But you rose to my bait And proved me wrong, so wrong For this time, beauty ran deep. It's a hard life, the coward's. We talked and talked away Time of no consequence But I would not ask nor fight. It's a hard life, the coward's. But now I'm awake and here. Now I'm alive and strong Now I will risk for a gain. It's a hard life, the coward's. This proves that I am ready Now you can see my love. It's on my shoulders now. To take whatever comes my way.. |
