The Fallen Hero

You went to war without a second thought,
So quick to uphold the laws you were taught,
Defend your country, the Red White and Blue,
But forget your loved ones for Uncle Sam Needs you!
So now the years have passed, and we all sit at your grave,
Time slipped by so quickly and our son misbehaves.
He has no Dad you see, no father to look up too,
But its ok my husband for your country needed you!
Now I'm sorry if writing this makes you think my love untrue,
But you have to understand what this pain has put me through.
You were my life don't you see! my hopes and my dreams,
And you were taken from me,
For no reason it seems!
And now all there is, is just your picture on a wall, ... a subtle reminder of the great heroe's fall,
But what about the cold spot next to me in bed?
And what about the bond we shared the day that we wed?
So I hope that one day we all meet again,
So you can explain to our boy, where his Daddy has been.
Because when he used to ask, the reason you died... I had nothing to tell him!
