Prologue

The night was silent as Pete and his squad floated over the water toward the dock. The only sound he heard was that of the crickets. Exhausted he pulled himself out of the boat and onto the docks. He held up his LS-54 and secured the area as the sixteen other Confederates climbed onto the docks.
There was a gunman in the tower who by the sound of things hadn’t spotted them yet. Pete aimed the LS-54 at the gunmen. When the laser was on him he pulled the trigger and he died instantly. No blood, no wounds, just died.
Breathing hard but trying not to look like he was nervous Pete ordered his squad forward. The twelve marines got ready to storm the building while four of them were ready to follow with the battering ram.
Pete put on his infrared goggles and deployed a smoke grenade. Pete kicked down the door and pulled the trigger as he aimed at each of the four gunmen. They fell to the ground, dead, as the marines ran past them into a large room. Forty gunmen opened fire on them.
The marines aimed the very visible green laser at the gunmen and pulled the trigger. Both sides took cover and opened fired but only the marines advanced.
Pete ducked, then aimed his gun and they were dead. He moved his gun from left to right and each one died. Pete motioned for the squad to follow.
Pete ran forward aiming his LS-54 at any gunmen that dared to come out. A man with an MP5 jumped out of hiding and fired at him. Pete strafed to the right behind cover and shot him. He fell instantly as Pete kept moving.
As he saw a door he ran as fast as he could towards it.
Herman Vasen was tied up in a chair next to his granddaughter Amy. The gunmen held the pistol waiting for a reply from the Confederate States government. Herman was quickly cutting the rope.
Pete almost made it through the doorway when the gunmen slammed the door in his face.
“I told you not to try anything!” He roared. “Now you’re going to pay.”
The gunmen swung around and aimed his pistol at Amy’s head. Herman finally cut the rope then rushed forward to take the bullet.
The memories flooded through his head………
