A poem about regret, basically.
Bruises (Kick Myself)

Black and blue,
From all the bruises,
I’ve received,
From kicking myself,
Over and over.
Repeatedly beating myself,
For letting those words out,
For slipping up.
I should’ve just walked away,
Or fed you a different answer.
What was I thinking,
Telling you that?
I regretted those words,
Thirty seconds after they left my lips,
Thirty seconds too late.
And now I kick myself,
For my stupidity;
Kick myself until,
The bruises appear,
Black and blue,
Covering every inch of my body,
Swallowing me whole.
These bruises are all I see,
When I look into the mirror,
Staring back at me,
Reminding me of my stupidity.
Black and blue,
From all these bruises,
It feels as though,
I’ll never stop kicking myself,
For letting those words slip out.
